I remembered a Roman Catholic apologist I encountered made a rather silly acronym for BORN AGAIN. He said that it means Beast, Occult, Rebellious, Nonsense, Antichrist, Gullible, Arrogant, Ignorant and Nefarious. But all I can reply to that guy is, "Well look who's talking! Don't you even bother to read the Bible properly and study it?" Unfortunately, all the letters he accused born again Christians of being those are true for people like him. To be presumptuous is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as, "too confident especially in a way that is rude" or "done without permission right or good reason." I remembered the time I listened to Joel Osteen and watched TBN when I was still newly saved. It seemed fine until I realized they weren't preaching much about sin and it's been more on the prosperity gospel. Many of the stuff they preach aren't biblical like they say that you know a person who's not well with God because the person isn't living their best life now. When I was newly saved, I remembered how I enjoyed listening to Joel Osteen, Mike Murdock and other prosperity preachers until I found out that they were preaching a lot of unbiblical stuff. I bought the book "Why I Believe" several years back and I still have a copy of that old book. What disturbs me to think is that why are even some Christian bookstores selling Joel Osteen's "Your Best Life Now?" One is a born again pastor, the other is a burn again pastor...  One of the dirtiest tactic used by Roman Catholics to discredit born again Christianity is to lump born again Christian pastors with those the call as "burn again". Another derogatory term is the word "buang again". Buang means the person is out of one's mind. Some Roman Catholics have even created a Facebook page called "Buang Again". The purpose of the page "Buang Again" is to demean born again Christians. All the while, they're confusing born again Christian pastors from those who really deserve to be called buang again. One group may say that born-again Christians don't hate Mary but they don't have issues with Mary but only dogmas about Mary taught by the Roman Catholic institution. Two days ago, I missed it that it was his 77th birthday. I remembered the time I thought he taught "works salvation" until I did a thorough study his article called  "An Introduction to Lordship Salvation" . Since today is Father's Day, I want to give my thoughts on priestly celibacy by the Roman Catholic institution in contrast to what God required for both the Old Testament priest and the New Testament pastor. Today, people demand that I be "politically correct" or else. But what I can say about political correctness is that it's nonsense. The picture above shows what it is about. I find it annoying to think how the Vatican's abusive history is just so "hushed up" today. There's the current heresy that says that to teach people to repent of their sins is "works salvation". But do they know what repentance of sins mean? Repentance is taken from the word "metanoneia" which means a change in mind which begets a change in purpose. It's an inward turn from sin not an external turn from sin.  I remembered that song "Victory in Jesus" and one of the biggest messages the song is that, "And I repented of my sins and won the victory." The second stanza has it, "And then I cried, Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit." That's what it means to repent of one's sins. Repentance of sins is a change of mind about one's sins. This repentance comes when the person realizes that God's standard is too perfect. You should obey not eight out of ten or nine out of ten. In doing my daily Bible reading and study it's obvious that Christians do need affliction. There's the statement that a life without problems is like food without spice. A life with no rain and all sunshine creates a desert. Likewise, God has a purpose to allow affliction. He doesn't work without purpose or plan.  I remembered the sermon by Pastor John F. But the truth is that God wants Christian growth to be cooperative. He doesn't save the person and say, "You're on your own now!" Instead, He saves the person and decides to work on that person. Just because a person becomes a Christian doesn't mean they're sinless. True that they can't live like the rest of the world but they're not immune from failures. I always thought of this horrible truth that it's easier for me to pray when I'm in trouble than when's not in trouble. It's a real problem when I end up praying as the last resort than the first resort.  When I reread Psalm 34:1 it says, "I will bless the  L ORD at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth." Job acknowledged that his trials in life were from God. Although he had some degree of self-righteousness that needed to be purged out, he still humbled himself. I can't even say I don't have any degree of self-righteousness and my painful experiences make me more aware of how much self-righteousness I have to get rid of as part of sanctification. I remembered back when I still thought about why does God allow difficult times and why doesn't he promise an easy life? The whole reality can be summarized as this, "He never promised an easy life." Then I remember Psalm 34:1 saying, "I will bless the L ORD at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth." It does sound tough. It seems to make sense murmuring when times are hard. But if there weren't hard times, I don't think anybody can appreciate God's blessings. I always felt like giving up because God seems unfair. But salvation hasn't always been about fairness but mercy. While God will eventually judge sin but raw justice will save no one and damn everyone. God's standard of holiness has always been whether you sinned or not in contrast to what I used to think that His standard was other people vs. me. What does it mean to bless the L ORD at all times?
