I Used to Watch Horror Movies Every Halloween

I remembered the time I used to enjoy watching horror movies when I was still not yet saved. While I watched them for the sake of a thrill never mind that they also gave me nightmares. Yet I somehow enjoyed all these filth called horror movies. These horror movies were laced with New Age doctrine, Roman Catholic superstition and/or folk superstition. Some of them mixed Roman Catholic superstitions with folk superstitions which some of them call it Santerianism. I observed how some of these movies not only use crucifixes and holy water to fight off the monsters but also the use of garlic and salt. Regardless of what was put and what was mixed they all were from the same deception of Satan. They also feed the desires of the flesh. How often has it been that certain horror movies display a lot of sexual scenes or bloody violence? They can feed the sadistic mind's desire for blood or the adulterous mind and heart's lustful thought. Watching them has been one of the reasons wh

I'm Not Accepting Pope Francis' Offer of Reconciliation Between Protestants and Roman Catholics

Image
As the 500th anniversary of the Reformation hits today, I feel like writing this post. This is going to be an "open letter" to Pope Francis telling him that I'm not going to accept his offer of reconciliation. People tell me that I should be more "open" because for them there's hardly any difference between Roman Catholic and Protestant doctrine. For starters, I'm not a Protestant but a Baptist though I embrace Protestant Christians as brothers and sisters in Christ. But I'm afraid how many Protestants and Baptists today are not true converts. Some of them have even become Roman Catholics as proof they weren't saved to start with (1 John 2:19).  What's the issue with me not accepting Pope Francis' offer of reconciliation? For one, there can be no reconciliation between Bible-believing Christians and the Roman Catholic system. The Roman Catholic system continues to insist that she's the Church founded last 33 A.D. yet nothing in

I Have No Reason to Believe in Purgatory

I admit, I have had a wrong understanding on Purgatory. Purgatory is taught by the Roman Catholic institution that those who died in a state of grace must pass through Purgatory before they can enter Heaven. This is not about granting a second chance after death but rather it is about those who are saved still need to pass through this "purification state". Here's the problem with Purgatory. It downplays the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Do Roman Catholics even understand the meaning of "It is finished." (John 19:30) whenever they review the seven last words of Jesus every Good Friday? When Jesus completed His sacrifice on the cross it became sufficient to pay for all the sins of every believer. The doctrine also attaches itself the doctrine of indulgences. The whole Roman Catholic system has been a money making monster pretending to be the Church found in 33 A.D. when it isn't. If it wasn't enough to pay for infant baptism, you have to pay

Why I Believe in Celebrating and Continuing the Reformation

Image
I am confident that the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Reformation is proof that the gates of Hell cannot prevail against the Church. The gates of Hell have formed in many ways and among them are the Dark Ages. The Roman Catholic institution ruled the world claiming to be the one true Church that Jesus founded on 33 A.D. The Pope was viewed as one who not only succeeded St. Peter's throne but also as one who had authority over kings. To do so and to challenge its false claims meant death. Everywhere where the Roman Catholic institution was dominant made them all colonies of the Vatican.  Before the Reformation, there were already people who opposed the Vatican's false claims. Some of them were the early Baptists and the more radical Anabaptists and Waldenses. Many opposed Rome openly like Girolamo Savonarola who used a Latin Vulgate Bible to protest against Alexander VI's immoral lifestyle. Jan Hus was another martyr before the Reformation who was burned alive for pr

My Reflection on What Matthew 16:18-19 Means For This Reformation Month

Image
Matthew 16:18-19 is a very misapplied verse. At the same time, it's the assurance that the gates of Hell can't prevail what Jesus started. Here's what it says: And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this Rock I will build My Church; and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. There is the great commission. Jesus told Peter the obvious context. He wasn't building the Church upon Peter. Rather, He's giving Peter the assurance that upon that Rock the Church will be built. It is the solid rock. 1 Corinthians 10:4 tells us that the Rock is Christ. The Rock is referred to in the Old Testament as a description of the triune God. With God as the foundation the Church then how can the gates of Hell prevail against it? If Peter a man who needed salvat

My Reflection on Job 7:1-10 and Wearisome Nights

Job 7:1-10 says this painful truth: Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? Are not his days also like the days of an hireling? As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work: so am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me. When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? And I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day. My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome. My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope. O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good. The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I am not. As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more. I thought that times come when I

I Believe Roman Catholic Fanatics Are Going to Have More Problems with Pope Francis' Ecumenism

Image
As the 500th anniversary of the Reformation approaches just a few days by now, I thought of one particular article last year that caught my attention. To no surprise, the liberal Pope Francis (who some Roman Catholic fanatics still proudly claim as the true successor of St. Peter) has embraced Lutherans. I've even read how Lutheranism has declined and if there are apostate Baptists then I'm told I should be surprised of apostate Lutherans. Pope Francis with apostate Lutherans Here's an excerpt from the  Catholic Herald  which may cause many fanatical Roman Catholics to tear their hair off in denial or some may even reject Pope Francis. It's because Pope Francis' stand against those he considers Protestants differs from the Roman Catholic fanatic.  Here in Lund, at this prayer service, we wish to manifest our shared desire to remain one with Christ, so that we may have life. We ask him, “Lord, help us by your grace to be more closely united to you and thu

I Don't Find Any Reason to Rejoice in the Death of Muslim Terrorists

Seeing Muslim terrorists die and slip into Hell without Jesus is no surprise. I've just read the news some time ago that two members of ISIS in the Philippines have been shot in a military operation. Before then, I read the death of Osama bin Ladin last 2011. But there's one thing that I can say is that I don't find any reason to rejoice in their death.  As much as I support the death penalty and the need for authorities to kill terrorists to save civilians. The same God who ordered the death penalty for severe crimes also commands the following: Numbers 35:31-32 - Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death . And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest. God orders murderers to be put to death but there's such a thing as due process. God wants to keep society saf

I'm Getting Tired of the Selective Outrage of Feminists

Image
I'm getting tired of feminist brats and their selective outrage day in and day out. So often, some women tend to think of themselves as feminists because they believe in women's rights. But there is a thin line between female sexists and upholders of women's rights. I don't believe that it's okay for any husband to hit one's wife. But it's also never okay for a wife to hit one's husband.  I'd like to talk about feminism's selective outrage and how outrageous it is. I can observe the following instances of the selectivity of feminism: They complain whenever a man hits a woman but always conveniently ignore it when a woman hits a man. A woman who hits her husband out of frustration because the latter had an extramarital affair is laughed at. All the while, they defend homewrecking whores because for them becoming a housewife is a form of parasitism - at least for those brats anyway. While it does not justify the married woman's use o

My Differences With John Gill's Interpretation of Revelation

Yes, I'm done with John Gill's exposition after several months of reading it. It was a rich exposition though there are times I'm forced to only read one chapter instead of two or three. Some chapters are pretty long and they need more understanding than the rest. There are also shorter expositions which makes reading a little more easy. Then I reached the Book of Revelation where I had some disagreements with John Gill. On the other hand, I do still have my problems with his commentary on Revelation. When it comes to my interpretation of Revelation, I'm in between futurism and historicism. I'm definitely not a preterist to believe that Revelation was fulfilled last 70 A.D. I'm definitely not a historicist in the sense that I believe that the Antichrist is a dynasty because 1 John 2:18 says that Antichrist shall come and right now there are many antichrists. There's a distinction between the Antichrist and an antichrist. Later Reformed preachers like Art

Recalling My Faith Crisis in "Mama Mary"

Image
October is the Rosary Month, Halloween Month and Reformation Month. I still think about the time I used to pray the Rosary in hopes of attaining peace only to find myself in a mess. Some Roman Catholics may say that when they pray to Mary they're asking her to pray for them. But is the Rosary totally biblical and a weapon against vice and sin? Here's something I got from  Aleteia.org  which is a Roman Catholic website with how Roman Catholics justify the Rosary: When Catholics pray the “Hail, Mary” prayer they are not praying to Mary but are asking for her prayers of intercession for us, in the same manner that you may ask friends, family, or your clergy to pray for you. Only her intercessory prayers are more powerful because she is the Mother of our Lord and sits at His side in Heaven . The Hail Mary prayer is taken straight out of the Bible, off the lips of the Archangel Gabriel, the messenger of the Lord (Luke 1:28 NAB), and from Elizabeth’s words of praise when the ch

I Say Gun Violence is a Problem Because of Sin

I read the news of the Las Vegas shootings. There's nothing new about it. While the Bible doesn't prohibit people from owning deadly weapons or using them for defense but it certainly prohibits their misuse. The same Bible that institutes the death penalty also prohibits it being carried out without proper due process or to be used indiscriminately. The problem isn't guns or death penalty but their improper use. These stuff were meant to help defend a country but they can destroy a country when they're in the wrong hands. Here's an illustration of how guns isn't the issue but it's all about sin. Jesus told His disciples to buy a dagger to defend themselves in Luke 22. Moments later he tells Peter not to use the dagger or to put the law into his own hands. The issue is not about having a sword or a knife but it's all about misusing them. It's like how heroes of the Bible rightfully used the sword to defend the nation all the while wicked men of t

Entering the 500th Year of the Reformation Makes Me Believe Jesus is Coming Sooner Than I Think

I think about how Church history has been surviving a lot of trials. Here's some events I could name that prove Matthew 16:18-19 means what it says and that Jesus is the Rock: The Church was persecuted by the Pharisees... it stood still! The Church was persecuted everywhere it went in the Book of Acts... it stood still! The Church was persecuted by the Romans... it stood still! The Roman Catholic institution did every trick in the book to destroy the true Church and replace it... it stood still! Muslim regimes tried to destroy Christianity... it stood still! Today, all the forces of darkness are joining together yet the Gospel is still being preached! In short, when Jesus said the Church can't be shook then it can't be shook. The persecution brought by the enemies of Christianity can't destroy the Rock foundation. 1 Corinthians 10:4 says that the Rock is Christ. Peter was assured that the Church won't be destroyed because it's on solid Rock. Peter c

I'm Not Just Reformed, I'm Continuously Reforming

Image
Happy first Sunday of October 2017. It's also the first day of October 2017 which is the 500th anniversary of the Reformation Month. I would like to declare this fact that I'm not just Reformed, I'm continuously Reforming. The more I get into Reformed Theology the more I see that Christianity is subject to continuous reforms according to the Scriptures. What does it mean to be reformed? Reform means to make changes in order to improve it. Reformation is not a way to new Christianity but a way to true Christianity.  What does it mean that I'm continuously reforming day by day?  Romans 12:1-3 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me,
