I Have No Reason to Believe in Purgatory

I admit, I have had a wrong understanding on Purgatory. Purgatory is taught by the Roman Catholic institution that those who died in a state of grace must pass through Purgatory before they can enter Heaven. This is not about granting a second chance after death but rather it is about those who are saved still need to pass through this "purification state".

Here's the problem with Purgatory. It downplays the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Do Roman Catholics even understand the meaning of "It is finished." (John 19:30) whenever they review the seven last words of Jesus every Good Friday? When Jesus completed His sacrifice on the cross it became sufficient to pay for all the sins of every believer.

The doctrine also attaches itself the doctrine of indulgences. The whole Roman Catholic system has been a money making monster pretending to be the Church found in 33 A.D. when it isn't. If it wasn't enough to pay for infant baptism, you have to pay for other requirements for salvation such as confession, first communion, confirmation and last rites. But that's not enough. Now the loved ones must pay for the masses that will go on for a very long time.

Some Roman Catholic apologists say that Luke 16:16-31 is proof that there is Purgatory. They say that Abraham's Bosom is Purgatory. But there is a problem in saying that Abraham's Bosm is Purgatory. Lazarus was now comforted. He was not paying for his sins. He was in complete comfort. Abraham was there too. Should I even believe that Abraham himself was still paying for his sins in a place of comfort? That place couldn't be Purgatory because they were already in comfort while Purgatory is viewed as temporal punishment.

The only guaranteed place for the saved is Heaven. The payment is paid in full. The moment anybody receives Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior their destination is Heaven. Purgatory is nothing more than a gold mine. The worse revelation is that many people who they believe are still in Purgatory are not in Purgatory. They are in fact in Hell and no amount of Masses will help those who have died in their sins (Hebrews 9:27).
