It Upsets Me Whenever a Book or Website About Cults Excludes Roman Catholicism from Its List!

Image
I remembered reading several books on various cults but it upsets me on how often Roman Catholicism is so left out in those books. What's the problem? I remembered Walter Martin's book "Kingdom of the Cults" and what... no Roman Catholicism mentioned? Isn't Roman Catholicism the world's largest cult? I felt really bad when I found that out. I was able to get a wealth of information from that book but I was upset it doesn't contain anything about Roman Catholicism. Although Martin himself had debates with the Jesuit priest Mitch Pacwa, I was wondering why didn't he include Roman Catholicism in that same book?  Only a few books ever bother to call Roman Catholicism a cult. It upset me even more to find out that some influential preachers in Christendom even called Roman Catholics as brothers and sisters in Christ. When I was newly saved, I thought I could reform the Catholic Church but found out that it's impossible. That's why I dropped T...

Giving a Piece of My Mind on the Vatican's Meddlesome Attitude with Political Affairs

Image
Christians are called to become people who are  meddlesome against sin  no questions asked. Christian can't be a person who loves sin. Even if they're not sinless but they sin less and they grow to love righteousness and hate sin becaase a Christian isn't just saved but saved from sin. Matthew 1:21 declares Jesus came to save His people from their sins. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 declares that Christians were delivered from such sinful lifestyles. There's no way that you can be saved and still live like the Devil. No, that's much as a lie from the pits of Hell as the idea that salvation is attained by one's contribution of good works. Because Christians aren't saved by works but their faith will bring forth works as a result, we can see that Christians are called to be meddlesome people like the prophets of the Old Testament. The only difference is Christians today no longer receive revelations because the Book of Revelation is already completed. A Christian c...

I Have No Reason to Believe That One Can Compromise the Gospel With Worldliness

Image
The timeless truth is that Christianity is not for worldly people. Do you know becoming a Christian results in people rejecting the world? Most people think that if you're right with the world then you're okay. But the Bible says you're not okay. James 4:4 addresses the sad truth that friendship with the world means enmity with God. To become a friend of God is to become an enemy of the world. There's no middle ground between salvation and damnation. Either you are of the world or you are of God (John 15:18-19). It's either Heaven or Hell, the narrow way or the broad way. You must choose the narrow way or you'll end up in Hell because you're still in the highway.  There's a fine line in the sand between worldliness and spirituality. When it comes to Jesus and the world, I can't have both. I can't expect to be accepted by both God and man. I can't seek my personal glory or the glory of another and compromise it with God's glory. That...

Giving a Piece of My Mind About the Stupidity of BAD HERMENEUTICS

Image
"Preachers, please preach expositorily!" is one of the most common cries that I hear from those who use and/or listen to expository preaching. We have the study of Scriptural interpretation called hermeneutics. When I listened to this short lecture by Dr. John F. MacArthur, I really want to say that I missed a lot of lectures all because I spent time believing MacArthur added works to salvation. But the more I listened to him, the more I realize that he was only emphasizing the difference between true converts from false converts.  One of the worst examples of out of context preaching is this sermon called "Pisseth Against the Wall" by Steven Anderson. I admit that I really criticize the Roman Catholic institution or any pseudo-Christian cult for taking Scriptures out of context because that's what they do to maintain their power. If they did proper interpretation then people would know Peter wasn't the first Pope or that Jesus is the eternal Son of...

Trying to Migrate to Calvinism Is a Lot Harder Than I Imagined

Image
I can't deny that I started with a neither Calvinist nor Arminian view. Not all preachers that I like were Calvinist. David W. Cloud of Way of Life Literature admits he's a non-Calvinist. While he admits he can accept a Calvinist Christian as family but he's still convinced that some parts of Calvinism are serious error. Harry A. Ironside and Aiden W. Tozer also didn't accept Calvinism. But there's one preacher that has been admired by Calvinist Christians and non-Calvinist Christians alike namely Charles H. Spurgeon. Some non-Calvinist Christians may still like Arthur W. Pink, Paul Washer, John F. MacArthur, Robert C. Sproul Sr. and other Calvinist preachers in spite of the difference of having a Calvinist and a non-Calvinist view. In my case, I really still have my problem with the doctrine of election. While it does somehow keep me humble but it does keep my mind confused. Election itself has been viewed by some as discouraging missions or may discourage you ...

I'm Not Religious, I Just Love the LORD!

Image
Back then, I thought all my religious acts could save me. Praying the Rosary, going to confession, going to Mass... nothing really matched God's perfect righteousness. I remembered reading the Good News Bible for myself the first time. Even if there were missing verses and it's a Roman Catholic approved translation, I was horrified to read that no amount of good works could do anything. I stopped going to masses because I noticed the hypocrisy in the family. Nothing was more appalling than the hypocrisy of my folks and I wanted to be free from it. Then I realized salvation from my sinfulness was never by my own individual effort. It was by God's grace that delivers people from sin (Ephesians 2:8-10, 1 Corinthians 9:11). After knowing Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, it's not about human religiosity anymore. No, I read the Bible, I pray, I attend Bible studies and Sunday worship services because I love the L ORD. What does the Bible say about religiosity by human s...

Giving a Piece of My Mind on How the World Today Sees Cain and Abel

It's very easy to take Cain and Abel out of its context. It can be easily confused with the doctrines of works salvation and conditional security. Some say that Cain may have offered rotten vegetables when that's not the case. Another heresy is that Abel was accepted by God based on his personal merits. But that's not the case.  One must consider the situation of Cain and Abel. We can read in Genesis 4:3-4 which says: And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the  LORD .  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: The Bible doesn't tell us that Cain brought rotten vegetables though I tend to assume that more often than not. It's also highly possible that Cain brought his best vegetables to brag to the L ORD that he was capable of saving himself. When Abel brought the firstlings of the flock which was ...
