It Upsets Me Whenever a Book or Website About Cults Excludes Roman Catholicism from Its List!

I remembered reading several books on various cults but it upsets me on how often Roman Catholicism is so left out in those books. What's the problem? I remembered Walter Martin's book "Kingdom of the Cults" and what... no Roman Catholicism mentioned? Isn't Roman Catholicism the world's largest cult? I felt really bad when I found that out. I was able to get a wealth of information from that book but I was upset it doesn't contain anything about Roman Catholicism. Although Martin himself had debates with the Jesuit priest Mitch Pacwa, I was wondering why didn't he include Roman Catholicism in that same book?

Only a few books ever bother to call Roman Catholicism a cult. It upset me even more to find out that some influential preachers in Christendom even called Roman Catholics as brothers and sisters in Christ. When I was newly saved, I thought I could reform the Catholic Church but found out that it's impossible. That's why I dropped Trinity Broadcasting Network, that's why I stopped supporting Billy Graham and his crusades and that's why I wanted to dig on whatever information I could find about the Vatican as well as reach out to Roman Catholics,

Finding a book on cults that attacks the Vatican's heresies is a rare find. Some books may attack Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Iglesia ni Cristo or just any other cult. But why is Roman Catholicism the world's largest cult excluded? There's over a billion Roman Catholics worldwide who are still willingly held captive by that system. Worse, other research institutes that claim to be Christian are now unequally yoked with Rome. I spent time listening to Hank Hanegraaf only to realize he's been aligned with the Vatican. Jesuit agent or not - it doesn't change the fact that being aligned with the Vatican is an unequal yoke. Then more of them turn out to be working for the Vatican which is a super terrible truth.

Here's a warning though for those who want to refute Roman Catholicism. You need to focus on scholarly materials and methods to be an effective and scholarly apologist. Avoid getting your materials from conspiracy theory sites and books. I made a mistake in the past by reading all those conspiracy theory sites and books only to realize I was driven paranoid by them. A lot of them are not even reliable because of all the half-truths. Instead, one must focus on good books about Roman Catholicism like "Truth Encounter" by Anthony Pezzotta or any book that focuses on discussing doctrine instead of difficult to prove allegations or truths that are better told to growing Christians than to the mission field.

One good example of how to handle Roman Catholicism is by Dr. James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries. I suggest you take time to listen to his lecture and see how to objectively handle Roman Catholicism. While keeping an eye on the Vatican is indeed good but it's more important to focus on studying the Bible. I learned that the hard way when I ended up focusing too much on the Vatican rather than warning people to get out of it and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
