I Feel the Need to Study Dr. John F. MacArthur's Sermons on "Strange Fire"

Image
It can't be denied that once I've gotten a good book that I can't stop. Dr. R.C. Sproul Sr. may be home with the Lord now but I want to read more of what I haven't read. Dr. John F. MacArthur himself has had a series of lectures called "Strange Fire" as well as videos from the conference. My reason would be because a certain Baptist pastor has been trying to introduce charismatic methods of worship into a Baptist academy and church - he was last seen speaking in tongues during a youth fellowship and ended up leading a very chaotic chapel hour for the children. It has me concerned at how charismatic worship practices are in fact strange fires. Why should a Baptist church whether Fundamentalist or Reformed even bother to accept charismatic worship practices? The idea alone is just so disgusting to introduce unbiblical worship all in the name of unwinding. True, worship services are a time to unwind but we shouldn't introduce unbiblical methods into th...

Remembering the Day I Changed My Mind About Dr. John F. MacArthur

Image
I remembered back then when all I had learned about Dr. John F. MacArthur was based on slanderous accusations from a Hylestic website that has a lot of heresies that you may have not noticed since it's one huge site. Later I realized something was pretty wrong with the Hyles Foundation especially with one cover-up after the other (though many of the articles there are still useful but I soon figured out Jack Hyles himself taught a watered down repentance) and I apologize to him and his organization for that. The sites accusing Dr. MacArthur of this and that were taking things straight out of context or misrepresenting him. Then I started to analyze Grace to You myself and found out that the first edition of "Hard to Believe" had an erroneous statement made which was later revised. Thank God that the old copy of "Hard to Believe" is gone.  Some of the critics of Dr. MacArthur believe that he's teaching works salvation. But the more I read through his b...

How the Late R.C. Sproul Sr.'s Ministry Indirectly Helped Me a Lot in My Later Christian Life

Image
Years back, I remembered I was more of an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist, I was sort of allergic to Calvinism and had a severe misunderstanding of what Lordship salvation really meant and how the term has been lost in confusion all these years. After reading through Theopedia and some of Dr. John F. MacArthur's articles on Grace to You, I soon ran into who I may consider my favorite apologists and preachers - Robert Charles Sproul Sr. or R.C. Sproul Sr. for short. I may be a King James Onlyist but I still have respect for this man. It saddens me and makes me glad at the same time he's gone. I'm sad because I won't be hearing any new sermon any time soon. I'm glad because it's time to be present with the Lord. Although I have never met him in this life but I'm glad for all the sermons that he has prepared. The moment I shifted from fundamentalism to Reformed was a big shift in my life. I remembered picking up some of his books namely Now That's A G...

I'm Doing Self-Studies on Expository Preaching By Reading John F. MacArthur's Sermons and Books

Image
I remembered how often I enjoyed taking passages and desiring to expound them. I thought about John F. MacArthur's sermons and books. I remembered picking the book "Fool's Gold" and I started drinking whole ocean of truth in the second chapter called "Plexiglas Preachign: The Devastating Consequences of a Watered Down Message". I can't forget how angry that chapter made me when it stated the truth that watered down preaching is becoming more and more popular. I was further irritated at the prevalence of watered down preaching and I'm seeing the consequences unveil before my very eyes. I'm seeing how watered down messages are really more popular with a crazy world. I thought about how I used to berate MacArthur without any investigation. Many charges were like he supposedly doesn't believe in the blood or that many people miss the point. Another controversial issue is whether or not MacArthur thought that receiving the mark of the Beast a...

I Feel the Need to Grab a Copy of John F. MacArthur's Book "None Other"

Image
After I dropped Independent Fundamental Baptist or IFB theology and some crazy site that made me a paranoid, I decided to check John F. MacArthur out. I read "Fool's Gold" and checked out his sermons finding out me and him had more in common than the easy believism crowd. I had no idea I wasn't an easy believist because I always rejected the idea Christians can live like the rest of the world. I read a lot of MacArthur books which made me shift from IFB theology to Reformed Theology. When I heard he was releasing another book called "None Other", I feel that I must grab that book.  I remembered how I had a changed mind towards MacArthur because I found out me and him agreed on what true conversion really was. I always had no problem with "Lord and Savior" and the more I read his misquoted statements the more I realize that something was wrong because I was agreeing with him. I'm glad that I decided to stop relying on a lot of IFB sites be...

Belated Happy 77th Birthday Pastor John F. MacArthur!

Image
Two days ago, I missed it that it was his 77th birthday. I remembered the time I thought he taught "works salvation" until I did a thorough study his article called  "An Introduction to Lordship Salvation" . I started to read it and found out why the controversy was there to start with. Today people want a soft and easy message. But the Bible is hardly soft. It condemns many who think they're once saved always saved but their lifestyles prove they aren't saved. I really feel bad to why I believed the misrepresentations done against him. I read Fool's Gold, The Gospel According to Jesus, The Jesus You Can't Ignore, Hard to Believe and recently Worship: The Ultimate Priority. Each book has a lot of meaty discussions that I can't ignore. After I'm done reading one book I just can't resist reading it all over again. Then I want to read another but there's so many of his books that I want to read. The book Worship: The Ultimate Priori...

My Changed Perception Towards John F. MacArthur

Image
Back then, I remembered I believed a lot of biased accusations from certain Independent Fundamental Baptist groups towards John F. MacArthur that he taught salvation by works, that he doesn't believe in the necessity of the blood and many more stuff taken out of context from his preaching. I didn't even bother to investigate Grace To You especially on his posts on Lordship Salvation which I wasn't aware of what the whole controversy was about. After I started reading through "The Gospel According to Jesus" and "Fool's Gold" as well as listen to some of his sermons, I realized MacArthur and me may disagree with King James only-ism but after checking his several posts, I really find myself agreeing with him at a huge scale. The accusations hurled at MacArthur pretty much unfounded and I just bought them hook, line and sinker before. Does he really teach salvation by works and conditional security? What he emphasizes in his sermons is that if you...

My Personal Thoughts on John F. MacArthur's Book "Hard to Believe"

Image
Many times today, I easily hear "Christianity Lite" which can exist in many forms which I thought didn't exist until I realized so many "Christians" today aren't Christians. When I was a new Christian, I really couldn't swallow for a moment that a Christian can be a Christian and still remain as is. I've heard of people say that there are "Christian homosexuals" which is totally contradictory to the Word of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). If people are truly saved then there ought to be changes in their life and they don't remain the same. I just finished reading "Hard to Believe" after reading a few years ago another beloved classic "The Gospel According to Jesus". Some time ago, I used to think MacArthur taught salvation by works and conditional security only because somebody misrepresented him. The more I started reading through and investigating MacArthur's site Grace To You, the more I realized what Lord...
