I Feel the Need to Study Dr. John F. MacArthur's Sermons on "Strange Fire"

Image
It can't be denied that once I've gotten a good book that I can't stop. Dr. R.C. Sproul Sr. may be home with the Lord now but I want to read more of what I haven't read. Dr. John F. MacArthur himself has had a series of lectures called "Strange Fire" as well as videos from the conference. My reason would be because a certain Baptist pastor has been trying to introduce charismatic methods of worship into a Baptist academy and church - he was last seen speaking in tongues during a youth fellowship and ended up leading a very chaotic chapel hour for the children. It has me concerned at how charismatic worship practices are in fact strange fires. Why should a Baptist church whether Fundamentalist or Reformed even bother to accept charismatic worship practices? The idea alone is just so disgusting to introduce unbiblical worship all in the name of unwinding. True, worship services are a time to unwind but we shouldn't introduce unbiblical methods into th

Claiming That Legalizing Narcotics Will "Help Solve the Problem" Challenges My God-Given Intellect

Image
I've heard of how some politically correct organizations want to legalize the use of narcotics or dangerous/illegal drugs. I was thinking about the unsubstantiated claim that the war on narcotics is deemed ineffective. They also claim that if you legalize narcotics that you will put the drug cartels out of business because high supply of drugs will push the prices of drugs down. This claim is absurd based on my God-given common sense for these reasons: If the prices of narcotics were lower then wouldn't that encourage more buyers? If one could purchase drugs at much lower prices then wouldn't that be more profitable for the cartels if they had more customers than a select few? If drugs were legalized and taxed then wouldn't that encourage the use of such dangerous substances? It's giving them legal power to commit sin. There would be no need for sleazy transactions to protect the narcotic traders because the government now protects them legally. If that'

I'm Amazed That Some Christians Believe the Rapture is a "Jesuit Invention"

I remembered looking for various sites about the Vatican and I saw some of them dared to teach that futurism is a Jesuit heresy. They taught some ideas and revealed some ideas that the Reformers taught that may be considered confusing such as: Teaching that the Antichrist rather than one person. Unfortunately, they have ignored the obvious context of 1 John 2:18 where there is a distinction between the Antichrist and many antichrists. Also, Matthew 24:5 doesn't only refer to the papacy but to anyone who says that they are Christ. Some claim teaching anything about a Pre-Tribulation Rapture is actually a Jesuit heresy. I even remembered one site had labeled both Dr. John F. MacArthur and the late R.C. Sproul Sr. as false prophets because they taught a pre-Tribulation Rapture.  I find the whole idea to be quite a mess for one reason. The idea of a One World Government is anything but far away. Read the news if you still insist that the Jesuits invented the Rapture. You can

Remembering the Day I Changed My Mind About Dr. John F. MacArthur

Image
I remembered back then when all I had learned about Dr. John F. MacArthur was based on slanderous accusations from a Hylestic website that has a lot of heresies that you may have not noticed since it's one huge site. Later I realized something was pretty wrong with the Hyles Foundation especially with one cover-up after the other (though many of the articles there are still useful but I soon figured out Jack Hyles himself taught a watered down repentance) and I apologize to him and his organization for that. The sites accusing Dr. MacArthur of this and that were taking things straight out of context or misrepresenting him. Then I started to analyze Grace to You myself and found out that the first edition of "Hard to Believe" had an erroneous statement made which was later revised. Thank God that the old copy of "Hard to Believe" is gone.  Some of the critics of Dr. MacArthur believe that he's teaching works salvation. But the more I read through his b

Reading the Book of Judges Keeps Reminding Me of the Ugly Reality of Sin Cycles

Image
The Book of Judges' final verse got it right that there was no king in Israel that day and everyone did what was right in their own eyes . Every time I read that verse I just feel like hitting myself, It's because of the truth that people do what is right only in their own eyes and not in God's eyes. The sin cycle goes with peace, Israelites do evil, God punishes the nation, Israel cries out for help, God raises a judge to deliver Israel, peace is restored and the next generation repeats the same sin all over again.  Isn't this an ugly reality in society today? I read the newspapers. I've even noticed how easy it is to want God out of your life until something bad happens. Something bad happens and the same people who wanted God out of their lives are asking where God is. Wait a minute - didn't these people want God out of their lives? It's really ironic how people want God out until the consequences of their sins backfires at them. You can sin all yo

My Reflection on Rahab's Redemption from Sin to Serving God

Rahab is one of my favorite examples that even a wanton woman is not far from the grace of God. Reading through Joshua 2 would actually help us realize the very description of her - she was a Canaanite woman and a prostitute. Methinks that she's most likely a temple prostitute due to the wicked religion of their day. She was supposedly doomed to be destroyed with her sinful people. God gave a command to the Israelites to utterly destroy the wicked people in the land. Yet she was spared for this reason - she had turned from the wickedness of the Canaanites for the one true God. Joshua 2:9-13  And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you . [10] For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye

Am I Hanging My Inner Haman on a Daily Basis?

Image
I have an inner Haman that I must contend with whether I like it or not. What is this inner Haman? This is the man that's full of self and the pride of life. Haman tends to remind me of my old self whenever I read the Book of Esther. I remembered having so much of a petty, big baby pride that would easily get offended when my pride gets wounded. That's what exactly happened to Haman. I always wondered why did Mordecai refuse to bow down to Haman aside from the fact that he was a Jew. Further research had it that the people were commanded to actually worship Haman. Haman regarded himself as some kind of god. Mordecai knew better than to bow down to Haman in the act of idolatry. He knew he was a believer in God. He would never dare bow down to Haman as a god by the grace of God. This got Haman angry with his petty childishness. Haman's pride proved to be his fall. You can see how he was hanged. He wanted Mordecai and the entire Jewish race dead for this reason - Mordecai

My Reflection on Isaiah's Vision in Isaiah 6

Isaiah's vision holds many wonders. How much awe the prophet had in God's presence! Here's the very words of the seraphims or six-winged angels that speaks the truth of God's holiness: Isaiah 6:3-4 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole Earth is full of His glory. [4] And the posts of the door moved at the voice of Him that cried, and the House was filled with smoke.  This is the threefold holiness. Why do we mention holy three times? God is one in essence and three in Persons - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1 records the Trinity's involvement in the creation of the world. God the Father couldn't be speaking to angels because the latter couldn't create. God the Holy Spirit already moved in the waters. John 1:1-12 shows us the involvement of God the Son in the creation of the world. Each Person of the Godhead (later termed as Trinity in modern English) is shown to be holy

Am I Listening to Satan's Temptation to Take the Easy Way Out?

There's no question that life can get tough. It's very easy to give up. Jeremiah 20:5 says that Jeremiah temporarily quit. Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13 talk about Jesus' temptation. Why both of them had different sequences for the last two temptations isn't explained much except that some assume that one is discussed chronologically and the other is discussed topically. But we know that the relevance of the order is not so important compared to the lesson. I think about it many times that it's very easy to give in to Satan's temptation to take the easy way out. Satan appeared to Jesus offering the easy way out three times. So what can we learn? Jesus wasn't taking the easy way out. He fasted for 40 days in the desert. Suddenly, Satan appeared. Whether or not Jesus voluntarily suspended His foreknowledge Satan would be there is unknown. But what we know was that Jesus was fully prepared to face the Devil. He was fully surrendered to the will of God the

I'm 100% Sure That Jesus' Resurrection is No April Fool's Joke

Image
Isn't it amazing that April Fool and Easter's Sunday hit on the same day for this year? Here's an explanation is because the Lenten cycle follows a lunar cycle which usually coincides with the Passover festival. April 1 became Easter Sunday during the years  1923, 1934, 1945 and 1956 and now it's happened again. This would be a good time to talk about how sinful people tend to treat the Resurrection of Christ as a hoax when it isn't. It reminds me of the time when the Pharisees decided to bribe the guards to tell people that Jesus' body was stolen and He had not resurrected.  Matthew 28:12-15   [12] And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, [13] Saying, Say ye,  His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.  [14] And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. [15] So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and  this saying is
