I'm Taking Short Breaks Reading John Gill's Exposition

I gave a thought on reading commentaries to help me understand the Scriptures. Matthew Henry was already a challenge. John Gill is an even greater challenge especially with very long expositions. Reading through Psalm 119's exposition is the hardest. I had to really read it for three days before I could fully read it properly. The challenge was momentarily over then getting through later books of the Bible has been hard.  Now I'm in the Book of Acts and I'm almost done reading it but there's still Romans to Revelation. There are many long chapters in the Bible that I end up reading just one chapter per day if one chapter is that long. But there are times I want to push myself to read more because the exposition is just so beautifully written. Gill's commentary is a wealth full of information. But I must chew through my spiritual food rather nice and slow in order to understand the wealth of information that Gill's commentary provides for the Christian reade

Why I Believe It's Hard (But Not Impossible) For Rich People to Enter Heaven

Image
I don't believe that being rich is a sure way ticket to Hell and that poverty is a sure way ticket to Heaven. Rich or poor everyone who rejects the Lord Jesus Christ is going to Hell. Lazarus could have gone to Hell with the rich man if he wasn't saved. He didn't go to Heaven because he was poor but because He received Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior. The rich man didn't go to Hell for being rich. Rather, he went to Hell for rejecting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  I would like to talk about one problem namely why so many rich people have rejected Christ. People say getting saved is easy but do they consider that the Gospel is actually hard to believe? It's a paradox that salvation is a free gift yet it can be costly at the same time. Salvation is costly because it means it can cost you your self-righteousness, your pride, your fame, your fortune and even your life. While not everyone who got saved was at first willing to pay the cost but no one who

Why I Think It's Just and Fair Not to Give Second Chances After Death to Unsaved Sinners

It could be a controversial issue that if God is merciful then why doesn't He give second chances after death. I wanted to ask myself that question many times which I assumed was all part of His perfect justice. I assumed that He doesn't give any chance after death because He can't allow sin to enter into Heaven. Any impure spiritual being such as Satan and his angels or anybody who died in their sins has to be rejected by God in His Kingdom because He is holy. Would a person suddenly change their minds after death? I remembered looking at some Christian comics in the past and some of them show a picture of a person who decides to accept Christ now he's in Hell. But is it even possible for those who died in their sins to suddenly change their mind? There's nothing in the Bible to suggest that. I think here's one meaningful excerpt from Got Questions :  What about those who do not believe? Wouldn’t they repent and believe if they were given a second chance

Why I Don't Believe Hell is Satan's Kingdom

Image
I remembered a misconception I kept for some time that Satan is the ruler of Hell until I started reading and studying more of the Bible. It's a popular misconception that sadly, some Christian publications tend to portray Satan as the ruler of Hell when he isn't. It's even worse that some Christian comics even portray Satan and his demons having fun torturing the unsaved people in Hell. But the more I read the Bible the more I see that Hell isn't even Satan's domain. So why are some Christian publishers thinking that Satan rules Hell in the first place?  Do you want to know where Satan is now? Why don't you read the Bible instead of watching secular entertainment that portrays Satan as the ruler of Hell? Why keep thinking about the cartoons where Satan waits for the damned and laughs evilly as they fall into Hell? Those scenes aren't biblical and they are created by lost people. After doing some reading on Ephesians 6:12 that the wicked powers are in

I Find It Ironic How Atheists Say No Intelligence Created Precisely Coded Information

Image
I remembered getting into an argument with an atheist who insists that no matter how complex the human body is that it's a product of evolutionary chance. That is really something not all evolutionists could even agree on. Not even Charles Darwin or Thomas Huxley were atheists even if they weren't Christians. The idea that no intelligence is required to create precisely coded information in biology is stupid. The accusation Christians aren't scientific is built on a strawman fallacy. Just consider which is more complex between the the robotic hand or the human hand. The human hand is more complex than the robotic hand yet atheists continue to insist that it just came by chance. Have they ever considered that every part of the body is fantastically complex that it couldn't come by chance?  I can't buy for a second that the whole Universe is just an accident with how marvelous it is. Is it a coincidence that the distance of the Earth from the sun is jus

Politically Correct Crybabies Are Driving Me Crazy

Image
I really hate reading or watching the news these days. The world isn't getting any better. You have politically correct people who say only if Christians were more "tolerant" then the world would be a better place. Worse, politically correct people say Christians are to blame for the world's conditions. They nitpick on the sins of the Christians while glorifying the immorality of the unsaved. That alone really drives me crazy with their double standard. What's worse is that Christians are just there to share the truth of the Gospel, that man isn't basically good and that Jesus is the only Way to the Father then these crybabies reveal how offended they are. They think they have the right not to be offended by the truth even if it was relayed to them in the nicest way possible without diluting the message. The social media landscape shows how irritating political crybabies are. Many of them commit several acts of online harassment or topic derailment for th

Why I Believe Even the Ugliest Women Are Still Capable of Sexually Wanton Behavior

It's often a mistake that when people think of Delilah, people think of an attractive but lascivious woman. What people may sometimes ignore is that God uses both the pretty and the ugly to do His will. The Bible talks about attractive people such as Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Joseph, Moses, Ruth, David, Bathsheba and Solomon who are used of God. At the same time, the Bible also warns of attractive deception such as Delilah, Amnon, Absalom and Salome the daughter of Herodias. But what we may ignore is that it hasn't been a matter of beauty to why people do lascivious stuff. It's all about their character. I remembered the number of times I've seen strange women in the night. I'm warned to be careful. I thought that they were really attractive but I was wrong. Many times I see a strange woman in the attire of a harlot. Most of them don't have much of an attraction to lure me. Physical beauty isn't the only thing that could lure people astray. Even the uglies

Why Am I Even Surprised That Quack Preachers Are More Popular?

Image
I remembered when I was newly saved there were some things I didn't understand. One of them was the popularity of false teachers. I started to ask myself why these quack preachers are popular. It wasn't until I encountered a series of lessons on false preachers. I remembered the lessons on Isaiah and Jeremiah. I saw the false prophets have become more popular for one reason: they preach what people only want to hear (Isaiah 30:10, Jeremiah 5:31). You can't deny how 2 Timothy 4:2-4 is coming true at a rapid pace. People today are giving in to unsound doctrine. It's becoming more and more popular to speak according to a worldly viewpoint than a godly viewpoint. It does get my mind to boggle why a holy God would allow these things. But there's one comfort in that: God doesn't allow bad things if He didn't have a good reason for His elect. Remember Job? He was allowed to encounter all bad things to reveal to Job that he had some degree of self-righteousness

Am I Showing Sympathy for People Trapped in the Pleasantry of Satan's Lies?

I gave a thought on how frustrating it is that people would rather have the truth only when it's convenient. In short, it's always been pleasant half-truths over inconvenient truth. Whether you like it or not people are inclined to explode when their sins are exposed to them because they think they're basically good. People are inclined to get mad when the truth goes against their hardened hearts and minds. The question isn't only about how people react to the truth but also how do I react to people who don't want it? There's no mistake people are stuck in the problem of Isaiah 30:10 and Jeremiah 5:31. The prophets are rejected for giving the unpleasant truth. Whenever I read Isaiah and Jeremiah I think about how people today are no different. A church that's full of people is usually a church that doesn't belong to the Body of Christ. How many people would want to join the popular crowd and the same people are most likely to say born again Christia

I'm Afraid Some Men Fail to Understand What It Means Not to Marry a Woman for Outward Beauty

Image
I remembered how some people just don't get it what it means not to marry for outward beauty. Does that mean that the preacher here is condemning outward beauty? He isn't condemning outward beauty. The Bible warns of beautiful deception but the issue has never been about outward beauty. If the Bible condemned beauty then think of how God also used pretty women like Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Deborah, Ruth (as Boaz noticed her too easily), Bathsheba (though she had a bad start) and Esther to do His will. So what does it mean not to marry for outward beauty? The truth is the preachers of the sermon ask Christian men to treat beauty and ugliness as ordinary. Nothing is wrong with marrying a pretty lady or an ugly lady if she's a sanctified Christian. Paul Washer's wife is a pretty lady while we know she wasn't married for her outer beauty. It's not a call to marry the ugliest woman you can find. Instead, it's all about seeking inner beauty regardless of one

Sexually Immoral People Tell Me That It's Not Them But Me Who's Making This World Worse

I shouldn't be surprised at sexually immoral people tell me that I'm making the world worse. What's their idea of a better world? I could imagine what their perverted minds think of what a better world is: a world without moral absolutes, a world where they can sin without having to pay the consequences and for the atheists among them the want a world without God. The bad news (at least for them) is that these can't happen. Just think of how some atheists have often expressed how they wish God would disappear and stop intervening with their lives. Some of them nitpick on whatever sins I struggle with. I'm not proud that I have my tendencies to be dishonest for my convenience or lose my temper over the slightest issues. But for the world one Christian's sin is more heinous than the millions of sins that their own commits. It's like how David's life was a mess after his adultery with Bathsheba (2 Samuel 16:13) while wicked kings still keep getting prai

How Often Have I Lost My Cool While Promoting Biblical Truth?

Image
I'm giving a thought on how often I lose my cool when I'm promoting biblical truth. I often remember how people discourage me from reading the Bible because they're not comfortable around someone who uses it for endless debates. I end up becoming a big Bible thumper whenever it comes to discussing the truth. Worse, I get so angry that I really want to cause physical harm to the person for the insults they're throwing at me. I just want to get even especially when these scoffers start telling me I'm stupid and start throwing their worst insults at me. What I often ignore is that the Bible tells me to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39).  Seriously... is it even considered Christlike to respond to insults and put downs by throwing a fit of rage or worse hitting the other party physically? I always tell them that God is not a God that is all love, that I'm not a fan of sugar-coated preaching, that the Gospel is offensive towards lost sinners, that people must
