Giving a Piece of My Mind on "Christian" Buddhism

I don't deny that Christianity and Buddhism do have some things in common like doing charity projects, not pursuing revenge, and helping one's enemies in need. The difference lies in the motives of doing good works. Buddhism is nothing more than centered on self-salvation while Christianity focuses on good works as a result of salvation. There is no real concept of grace in Buddhism while Christianity is all about man's helpless situation against sin and Jesus Christ is the deliverer. The problem today is the age of ecumenism and political correctness. The late John Paul II was a strong pioneer in ecumenism. He had various meetings with the Dalai Llama as the center of the Buddhist world. You might even call Dalai Llama as the Buddhist Pope. Former Pope Benedict XVI and the incumbent Pope Francis have been making stops at Buddhist temples seeking religious reconciliation and unity.

Some may even call Guan Yin as the Mother Mary of Buddhism. The statement isn't very well met by some Roman Catholics who refuse to acknowledge that their devotion to Roman Catholic Mary or calling Mary as the "Queen of Heaven" is no less idolatrous than praying to any pagan goddess. Roman Catholics are right to say that they're not praying to a pagan goddess but praying to anyone but God is idolatry. Then again isn't the Roman Catholic Mary not the same Mary of the Bible? If Buddhists pray to Mother Guan Yin asking for compassion then Roman Catholics also pray to Mary (who can't hear them) for compassion. It's as if God Himself doesn't give compassion.

The problem of trying to Christianize Buddhism also denies other biblical truths. Christianity denies reincarnation while Buddhism teaches it. Hebrews 9:27 says that we're all appointed to die once and after that the judgment. The idea of reincarnation is another lie that was cooked up in pagan ideas. While no one can be certain when the satanic teaching came out but one can be certain that reincarnation is a lie. Some even use reincarnation as an excuse to why homosexuality should be accepted since they say that certain people were the opposite gender in one of their lives. Should I mention how some Buddhist religious figures were said to be the opposite gender in one of their past lives? It's even said that the goddess Kuan Yin was supposedly a man in one of her past lives.

There's also one dividing line that needs to be drawn. Buddha is still dead and is still waiting for the Great White Throne judgment. Buddha only told his followers to strive without ceasing. It's very different from what Jesus said that it's finished. Buddhism teaches its followers to strive without ceasing to attain salvation. Christians are told to work out their salvation because it's God that works in them (Philippians 2:12-13) which is different from what Buddhism teaches. Jesus conquered death and Buddha was conquered by death. So why attempt to Christianize Buddhism when both religions are actually incompatible?
