I'm Not Celebrating Halloween, I'm Celebrating the Reformation Instead

Since it's October it's not easy for me not to think about two events that are fighting for the spot. One is Halloween and the other is the Reformation. Before, I used to think it was okay for Christians to celebrate Halloween until I found out that it was all focused on the celebration of occultism. Why should Christians allow their children to dress up as demons, ghosts and witches for fun? Halloween is celebrating the occult. While Christmas might be compromised by removing all the pagan aspects but not Halloween. Halloween is the time of the year when witches and satanists consider it their most precious day.

After I became a Christian, nothing was more liberating to know than that the Reformation and Halloween take place on the same day. The Reformation launched on October 31, 1517. It was that day the great Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on the Wittenburg Door! It sparked debate especially with all the errors of the Roman Catholic system. It was nearing November 2 or All Soul's Day and people were buying indulgences. The idea of Purgatory was that you can pay your loved ones to Heaven. But Luther declared the the powerful truth that salvation isn't for sale. By burning the indulgences, the Reformation had indeed started like no other.

The Five Solas upheld by the movement are Faith Alone, Grace Alone, Scripture Alone, In Christ Alone and Glory to God Alone. These five truths are not inventions of Luther but truths he upheld when the Reformation started. The Roman Catholic system had created a lot of requirements like confession to priests, one must pass through Mary overplaying her importance and downplaying Christ's importance, saying that good works are necessary to stay saved and everything that wasn't biblical. Even before Luther, there were already men like Jan Hus and Girolamo Savonarola who risked their lives just to get the Gospel defended and proclaimed.

Here's an interesting quote by Martin Luther on Table Talk based on his tower experience at the Tower of the Black Cloister:
The expression "righteousness of God" was like a thunderbolt in my heart... I hated Paul with all my heart when I rad that the righteousness of God is revealed in the Gospel [Romans 1:16-17].  Only afterward, when I saw the words that follow - namely that it's written that the righteous shall live through faith [Romans 1:17] - and in addition I consulted AUGUSTINE, I was cheered.  When I learned that the righteousness of God is His mercy, and that He makes us righteous through it, a remedy was offered to me in my affliction. (Martin Luther, Table Talk)

With the Reformation taking place on the same day as Halloween, I'm thinking that it's also the opportunity to pass out the Gospel to trick or treaters to further make Satan and his demons scream in torment. It's also a great opportunity to start sharing the Gospel to occultists who are roaming around promoting their Halloween nonsense. This isn't permission for a Christian to decorate the house with occult decorations. Trick or treaters will come asking for candy? It's time to launch the Reformation again by giving them Gospel tracts. Some of these trick or treaters may actually be witches and Satanists. These lost people need to hear the Gospel, that Satan's contract with anybody's soul can forever be blotted out by the Blood of Jesus and that Jesus is the only One who can deliver them from their sins.

Should I mention that celebrating the Reformation should also be a huge slap on the face of the Roman Catholic institution aside from witchcraft? People would be too busy paying for masses for their deceased loved ones for All Soul's Day. It's also time to pass Gospel tracts even to priests and nuns. I'm glad to know that there are many former priests and nuns who have come to savingly know the Lord Jesus Christ. Satan knows his time is almost up and Christians must get busy fighting the forces of darkness with the Word of God.

Happy first of October (Reformation Month) everyone!
