Why I Ended Up Rejecting the Claim That the Roman Catholic Church "Created" Islam

I remembered for a long time that I was fascinated by Chick Publications. There were also the Crusader comics which also featured the "Alberto" series. Part six presented the comic book "The Prophet" which allegedly contained the secret history of Islam. Alberto Rivera himself was proven to be a quack yet I was holding to the belief it was a Jesuit conspiracy to discredit him. What would be very detrimental to missions to Muslims and Roman Catholics (or to anyone lost) is the use of spurious sources to witness to them. It was claimed that a lot of Muslims were supposedly saved after reading "The Prophet". However, it's very easy to fabricate testimonies, right? Somebody can get paid to write a phony testimony these days. That's why there's the command to test the spirits if they are of God or not!

The early Roman Catholic institution created Islam? Well, that's got to be mind-blowing. It seemed to explain why the Roman Catholic vs. Muslim wars happen. It seems to fit in the Vatican's long history of trying to make peace with Islam. Yet, the Vatican has been making alliances with Buddhism's various sects too. The Pope embracing the Dalai Lama (the Tibetan Buddhist Pope) doesn't mean that Buddhism came from the Vatican. Buddhism came first over Roman Catholicism. It's like saying that the Jesuits founded the Inquisition when the timeline can easily refute it!

The comic book "The Prophet" presents some problems in its claims. According to Rivera, Muhammad's wife was supposedly a retiree to a Catholic convent and was later sent out to find a man. However, if you've read the book "Truth Encounter" by Anthony Pezzotta - take a look at "Appendix I - The Development of Catholic Doctrines" on page 218 which reveals that mandatory celibacy was enforced only in 1079 A.D.! That should be very mind-blowing at the claim that Muhammad's first wife Khadijah allegedly became a nun! I ignored that thinking that nuns were probably meant to marry priests back then. However, a little bit more research between Roman Catholicism and Islam will show that while the two indeed have some things in common (both are enemies to true Biblical Christianity and teach salvation by works) but saying that the former created the latter can be mind-blowing.

Also, from the site Answering Islam, we can see a closer picture of the heretical sect known as the Ebionites which is closer to Islam than Roman Catholicism is. Roman Catholicism believes in the deity of Christ - something Islam doesn't. The Ebionite sect had different beliefs than Islam but both denied the deity of Christ. After doing some search - it does seem easier for me to believe that the Ebonite cult rather than Roman Catholicism would have birthed Islam. Do a Google search on "Waraquah Islam Ebionite" and you may see closer links to Islam and the Ebionites than with Rome.

While both Roman Catholicism and Islam do have a lot to answer for, they do have their followers ignorant of their violent histories but using lies to spread the truth isn't going to work. Trying to reach out to both Roman Catholics and Muslims to Christ with such a lie isn't going to help in soulwinning. What they need is the Gospel and not conspiracy theories!
