I Believe That the Rider on the White Horse in Revelation 6 Is Not the Lord Jesus Christ
There is much dispute over some interpretation on Revelation whether it would be the preterist, historicist and the futurist view. Some have even gone as far as to actually say that the futurist view is a "Jesuit invention" which doesn't make too much sense. Now, it's time to consider my view on another controversial topic what some may call as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse or the Four Horsemen of Revelation.
Just who is the Rider on the White Horse? Some Reformed theologians such as John Calvin and Matthew Henry believe that the rider is the Lord Jesus. Yet others like Arthur W. Pink rejected the notion and called the Rider on the White Horse as the Antichrist. I still find it amazing how some expositors have read through Revelation 6 and 19. They have to consider that Jesus was up on Heaven breaking the seals while the four horsemen are on Earth.
We need to consider an important contrast between the two white horse riders in Revelation 6:2 and Revelation 19. There is a huge startling contrast which I would like to point out:
We need to consider an important contrast between the two white horse riders in Revelation 6:2 and Revelation 19. There is a huge startling contrast which I would like to point out:
Revelation 6:2
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
Revelation 19:11-16
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon Him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. [12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. [13] And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God. [14] And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. [15] And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. [16] And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
The difference can be seen in this one. The first rider has a bow while the other has the sword. The first rider has but one crown and the other has many crowns. One is conquering and to conquer bringing three other dreadful horsemen. The other is bringing conquest with the armies of Heaven. I can't see both riders to be the same person.
