I Still Remember the December 21, 2012 Rapture/Doomsday Hoax

The problem of the December 21, 2012 doomsday prediction is that they were using the Mayan Calendar. Not all the Mayans even believed it was the end of the world but it was just another cycle. For some, they even wanted to say that December 21, 2012, would be the glorious day when Jesus Christ would come back to claim His Church and the Tribulation Period will start on December 22, 2012.

Why do people believe in end of the world predictions? They don't read their Bible. I did a study on the Book of Revelation and a lot of events need to happen before the end of the world happens. How can the end of the world come by a set predicted date when the Rapture, the Tribulation Period and the Battle of Armageddon have not yet come to pass? They would buy any prediction from a man, get fooled and yet many of them still don't want to believe what the Bible says. Remember Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 that no man knows that day and the hour but the Father only. Acts 1:8 says that it's not for us to know times and dates.

I couldn't forget how much laughter and frustration I had last December 21, 2012. It's no secret that the world is really a mess. I really wished the Rapture hoax was indeed real. I wished that the Church Age already ended last December 21, 2012. The signs were already there. The ecumenical movement, rising immorality, natural disasters getting worse and are the signs of the times. Who doesn't want the Lord to come and abandon all temporal worldly pleasures that permit no permanent relief? Yet Jesus hasn't come back for His Church yet and there's a reason for that.

What reason can I name for Jesus not yet returning on said Rapture dates? It's because He would be wrong when He said no man knows that day or hour but the Father only. Another overlooked reason may be because Matthew 24:14 says that the Gospel must first be preached. Yes, it's really a sad thing that so many people fail to see the spreading of the Gospel as the biggest signs of the end times. It's stupid for a church to wait for the Lord to come back but they're not preaching. If there's any reason why so many old-time preachers were busy preaching it's because they didn't want to be caught idle when the Lord returns. Some preachers may even have said that they can't wait for Jesus to come back so they're making missions their top priority.

Right now, I should be glad that December 21, 2012 didn't hit as the Rapture date. I know I feel frustrated but I still have a mission to do. There's still the mission to preach. Christians should get busy spreading the Gospel to fulfill that prophecy in Matthew 24:14. They should think that every moment that the Gospel is spread means that the prophecy is getting fulfilled. It's time to get busy to spread the Gospel so the end will come.
