Stop Telling Me It's Right Just Because It's Legal!

It makes me angry whenever people tell me that it's right because it's legal. Some people tell me that I should accept homosexuality as morally right because the Supreme Court of the United States already made it legal. I don't care about what's legal if it's not right. Here's the statement that Peter gave:
Acts 5:29 - "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."

While Christians are indeed obliged to obey those in charge of them (Romans 13:1-3) but they're also required to politely disobey when they're told to do something against the Word of God. Authorities were set by God to be terrors to evil but when they refuse to do their job then they should be disobeyed but with due politeness.

This reminds me of how Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were already given pagan names from Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. They were in Babylon and King Nebuchadnezzar told them to bow before the god of Babylon as a state decree. While it was legal for the king to set up an idolatrous image but it certainly was immoral to challenge the living God with a vain idol. In Daniel's old age he chose to continue praying to God in spite of a new decree to worship King Darius. Mordecai wouldn't bow down to Haman because it was an act of idolatry. I don't care how legal those decrees were because they were declared immoral by God.

The Christians in the early church were also faced with the dilemma. While they were told to pay taxes or follow rules even under Nero but they couldn't give in to the despot's demands. The Christians were supposed to say "Kaiser Kurious" or "Caesar is Lord" but that statement is blasphemy. Caesar isn't Lord. Jesus is Lord. Wherever Christians were they were told to follow rules unless they were told to follow rules that would dishonor God. Christians should take their delight in keeping the community clean, reporting crime, not doing activities that would harm the well-being of the community but when they're told to respect the legalization of certain sins then they really need to say no. There's no room for sinful lifestyles in the Christian lifestyles because a truly saved person will detest and hate sin because they love and embrace righteousness.

If you want to argue about sin's rightfulness just because it was made legal then I suggest arguing with God. Arguing with God? No thanks. I don't want to argue with my LORD and my God because He alone knows what's better for me. Argue with God and be ready to lose your case because He'll never be wrong with just about anything.
