Giving a Piece of My Mind on How Stupid Worshiping With the Use of Graven Image Really Is!
Idolatry is really lucrative and profitable business. But just because something is profitable and popular doesn't mean it's good or bad. The problem with idolatry is not about it being profitable and popular but because it goes against God's Law. Here's some verses about idolatry that I find to expose such stupidity:
Isaiah 44:17-18 - " And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god. They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand."
Jeremiah 10:3-5 - "For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good."
Psalm 115:4-6 - "Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: they have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:"
Psalm 135:15-17 - "The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; they have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths."
It's very typical for the idolater to say that they don't worship the image but only the one portrayed by the image. The idiocy isn't exclusive to the Roman Catholic faith but to every religion involved in the worship of graven images. I remembered reading a Buddhism booklet for the sake of some minor research which even renounces the idea that offering incense before an image of Buddha or any of their gods, goddesses or saints is idolatry. I found that idea absolutely laughable and disturbing because the Bible condemns it as idolatry.
The stupidity of modern day idol worship is that they're all factory made. Today, we've got more than wood to make these idols as we have plastic and ceramic. If Jeremiah were here today he'd probably talk about how people dig for materials to make the raw materials for making today's idols in factories with modern equipment. There's hours spent making the idols and it's time to ship them to their assigned destinations. They're placed inside cardboard boxes filled with confetti (to prevent breakage) which may have a label to be careful of the contents because it's fragile. Some people may even be ordering these idols online through eBay, Amazon or any online shopping service if they weren't buying from their local religious stores or heathen places of worship.
The idol arrives and one must be super careful with the graven image that was delivered. It's fragile, it's breakable and then it's time to put it on the family altar or for some, in the heathen place of worship. They say that the graven images are just there to remind them of their spiritual friends. But action speak louder than words. They place the idol where the highest honor is due. Then it's time to bow down to them and ask for guidance from them. They claim it's just a visual aid to help them in their worship but they unknowingly worship the idol. While I do agree with them that kneeling isn't always idolatry (ex. kneeling to clean the car or beg for mercy) but they're bowing down to it and actually worshiping it. They don't even realize it that the demon behind the idol is already making them fight for the graven image.
Here's an example of how people foolishly fight for their graven images from Judges 6:25-32 saying:
"And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it: And build an altar unto the Lord thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down. Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night. And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built. And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing. Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it. And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar. Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar."
Gideon's father, Joash (not to be confused with King Joash) said the right thing. Pleading for Baal is useless. If Baal was a god why couldn't he even defend his altar? If the people weren't worshiping the image of Baal but Baal through that altar why get so fixated over someone who destroyed the idol of Baal? Likewise, why are people still trying to save their graven images when the house is on fire when they can always go to the souvenir shop to buy a replacement? I'm really laughing at their stupidity and pitying their mindless stupidity at the same time. Those idols need to be carried because they can't walk. Those idols have eyes but can't see, they have ears but can't hear, they have noses but can't smell and they have mouths but can't speak.
Here's one good example of how absurd idolatry is. Here's a picture of a graven image of the Hindu god Ganesh at the Ganges River. I wouldn't want to think that place washes away my sins. That place is so filthy and dirty. Only the blood of Jesus can wash away my sin and that's what those people who are bathing in the Ganges River badly need to hear. I'm even laughing at the thought. Hindus are asking the images of Ganesh to deliver them but now the idol needs to be rescued from drowning in the Ganges River. I even want to make fun of the fact that the image of Ganesh has big ears but the idol can't even hear the prayers of the Hindu devotees. They see before their eyes that their idols can't save them yet the stupidity of idol worship continues. How great is the power of Satan to blind the eyes of men. Fortunately, God's power is far greater than Satan's to open them from the blindness of idolatry.
This one even makes my mind boggle. Instead of checking in the image of Mary with all the necessary care to make sure it doesn't break like every other piece of breakable art, the priest foolishly gives the idol a plane ride. I'm amazed at how stupid people can be in more than one level when they're involved with idol worship. Some Roman Catholics (not all) can say that it's Mary so she deserves the top spot. I can't help but say that if that image was really Mary why isn't it enjoying the plane ride? I guess if the plane were destined to crash the priest might die prioritizing the image over his life. He might even beg for a parachute for the image of Mary. It's not surprising at how Satan can blind the person. Worse, Satan can even fool people into thinking that they're fighting against him when they're actually under his control and that their idols are actually giving him more than enough ground to demonically harass them.
What's more frustrating is that no matter how much you warn them, no matter how much the truth is getting clearer before their eyes but they still refuse to stop in their idolatry. It's just like how the people in Jeremiah 44 said that ever since they stopped offering incense to the Queen of Heaven then famine came. Jeremiah warned them that it's because of their idolatry that the disaster came they still won't believe that fact. They insisted in fulfilling their vows to the idol they called the Queen of Heaven. Today, Roman Catholics insist that they aren't worshiping the Queen of Heaven in the Bible but the "real Queen of Heaven". It doesn't matter who you pray to as long as it's not God. Roman Catholics may not be praying to Semiramis but praying to Mary is still idolatry. World religions today have variants of the pagan goddess of Babylon, it's no longer the same goddess but it's still idolatry. I don't care if world religions today don't engage in temple prostitution and humans sacrifice but it doesn't change the fact that idolatry will always be idolatry.
Besides, miracles concerning idols are either man-made hoaxes or demonically inspired. Idolatry is going to be at its peak during the reign of the Antichrist. Here's what we're to expect as a result of people's idolatry:
Revelation 13:14-15 - "And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed."
When I think about the images of the "Divine Mercy Jesus" of the late Sister Faustina, the vision apparently told her to paint Jesus so the world will know how he looks like. I believe that people today are conditioned by these paintings to get ready for the coming Antichrist. We've already had more than one ecumenical Pope but I can name mostly on the late John Paul II, the resigned Benedict XVI and the incumbent Pope Francis who's the first Pope to have graduated as a lay priest from the Jesuit Order. The late John Paul II didn't only focus on those he considered "separated brethren" but also on other world religions. John Paul II made every effort to launch ecumenism until the day he died. Dalai Llama had a lot of good stuff to say about the late John Paul II. Benedict XVI continued the work until he decided to resign due to some stress problems. Pope Francis still continues the same job of ecumenism. It's highly possible that right now Pope Francis may be the forerunner to the False Prophet of Revelation.
