I Have No Reason to Believe That Christians Are Destined To Live Their Best Life Now!

It's a very common heresy these days when prosperity gospel (garbage) preachers today preach, "You can have your best life now in the name of Jesus." I really find that kind of preaching annoying. I wonder how many verses are missing from their Bibles anyway? Just hearing Paula White saying that anybody who tells you to deny yourself is from Satan made me scream, "HERESY! HERETIC!" It's really that annoying. The same goes for Joel Osteen's prosperity garbage movement. Their doctrine is garbage through and through.

I remembered reading the Foxe's Book of Martyrs. It's a very grim picture that made me cringe imagining all the tortures. I'm glad that the book only had words but the way it was described shouts the truth that Christians aren't destined to live their best life now. Almost every evangelist either died a martyr's death or didn't live an easy life. Just reading a few books on the history of the Protestant Reformation and the Baptist movement helped me see how Christianity  has never been about living your best life now.

Jesus never told His followers they'll have an easy life. I don't read even one verse where Jesus promised that Christians can claim this and that material blessings. Instead, John 16:2 even warns that there will be people who will persecute Christians thinking that they do God a favor. When I read of the bloody account of the Inquisition, the papists thought that they were doing God a favor. A lot of murders done by the Inquisition and the Counter-Reformers were all done in the name of God. When the Christian martyrs were burned alive it was all done in the name of God. The Jesuits murder people claiming to do it for the greater glory of God. But I don't see how their activities are for the greater glory of God. Other pseudo-Christian (and some of them are anti-Catholic cults) also do their murders in the name of God. They just murdered and bore false witness all in God's name. They have also taken the Name of the LORD in vain.

Christians don't belong to the world so the world hates them. John 15:18-19 says that the world loves its own. Christians can't expect to be reconciled with the world whenever they fall down. They can only expect their fellow Christians to accept their repentance but not the world. Remember when David fell down into adultery with Bathsheba? All people could think of him after that was an adulterous scum. But wicked kings just kept getting accepted over and over. Ahab who was in fact Israel's most wicked king was still so well-accepted that they had no problem with killing God's prophets. Today, a Christian falls down and the person is roasted in the flames of hypocrisy while the wicked continue to be accepted even with all their filth.
