By God's Grace, I'm Still Affirming Sola Scriptura

Do you believe in Sola Scriptura or Scripture alone? Many people misunderstand what Sola Scriptura means. Some Roman Catholic apologists say they reject it because the Bible doesn't contain everything they need to know. Now I agree we need more than the Bible to get information but Sola Scriptura is not the same as Solo Scriptura. Sola Scriptura is the principle that every practice and doctrine is to be weighed in accordance to the Word of God. Solo Scriptura is the extreme of reading no other book but the Bible.

Why do so many hate Sola Scriptura? Mark 7:8-13 makes it clear that people reject the authority of God's Word in order to keep their own tradition. Isaiah 29:11-13 makes it clear how the Scriptures are sealed away from the public so the tradition of men can prevail. What's strange is that Roman Catholic apologists as far as I've observed anyway tend to first quote the Scriptures but when it's not enough, they go to Canon Law. It's a very dirty tactic indeed. Many other so-called Christian denominations also reject Sola Scriptura in order to keep the power of their central governments and the head of their central government. Roman Catholics have the Pope, Mormons have their mission presidents as successors of Joseph Smith and the Iglesia ni Cristo have the successors of Felix Manalo as head of their central governments.

Many tend to say that Sola Scriptura is self-refuting especially many false converts have transferred from Evangelical to Roman Catholic. The idea that Sola Scriptura is self-refuting and not taught in the Bible can be "easily accomplished" with taking verses out of context. If the Bible was not enough, why did Jesus and the Apostles quote from Scripture itself and not from manmade tradition? 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which many say doesn't support Sola Scriptura needs to be read in its plain meaning. It says to equip every Christian unto every good work and not just some good works. The more I read the Bible, the more I'm convinced that Sola Scriptura is the principle of church practice and discipline.

Are former Roman Catholics who became born again Christians "just misinformed" and those Evangelicals who became Roman Catholics were enlightened? The answer is no. Those Evangelicals who became Roman Catholics were false converts. Those former Roman Catholics who became born again Christians were not misinformed. They have seen the errors of the Roman Catholic system by getting exposed to real Biblical preaching. Those former Evangelicals turned Roman Catholics didn't lose their salvation as they were never saved to start with (1 John 2:19).
