Entering the 500th Year of the Reformation Makes Me Believe Jesus is Coming Sooner Than I Think
I think about how Church history has been surviving a lot of trials. Here's some events I could name that prove Matthew 16:18-19 means what it says and that Jesus is the Rock:
- The Church was persecuted by the Pharisees... it stood still!
- The Church was persecuted everywhere it went in the Book of Acts... it stood still!
- The Church was persecuted by the Romans... it stood still!
- The Roman Catholic institution did every trick in the book to destroy the true Church and replace it... it stood still!
- Muslim regimes tried to destroy Christianity... it stood still!
- Today, all the forces of darkness are joining together yet the Gospel is still being preached!
In short, when Jesus said the Church can't be shook then it can't be shook. The persecution brought by the enemies of Christianity can't destroy the Rock foundation. 1 Corinthians 10:4 says that the Rock is Christ. Peter was assured that the Church won't be destroyed because it's on solid Rock. Peter couldn't be the Rock. He was just a rock. Peter fully understood everything and it was by God's grace that he overcame his fear in later years. He who once denied Jesus thrice became one of the biggest preachers in Jerusalem.
The Reformation has entered its 500th year. The Roman Catholic institution did everything it could to stop people from reading the Bible. The Church already existed before the Reformation and the Roman Catholic institution. Now, we've got the Church expanded thanks to the Reformation. Without the Reformation there would be no King James Bible as translated by Calvinist scholars. The Geneva Study Bible was a precursor to today's King James Bible.
It was already 400 years of the King James Bible. It's now 500 years of the Reformation. Is the Lord really coming back? I'm led to believe that He's coming sooner than I think though I could be wrong. But I feel like it's anytime soon for this reason. Think about how the signs of the times are abounding like never before. The biggest sign Jesus is coming soon is not wars, not natural disasters but as Matthew 24:14 says it the preaching of the Gospel. The Gospel is getting spread like never before that the end may be closer than I think.

Even so come Lord Jesus!
