I Have No Reason to Believe That the Gospel Downplays God's Standards

There's the heresy that says, "But Jesus took it all away because we're in the New Testament." Excuse me but Jesus didn't change anything from the moral law in the New Testament. While it's true we've said goodbye to the ceremonial law but the moral law stays the same. Remember what Jesus said that He came not to destroy the Law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17)? Be very careful when you, "But Jesus took it all away." because He has not compromised the standards of holiness. It's utterly hypocritical to dismiss the Old Testament and then to appeal to it whenever it's convenient. If the Old Testament were irrelevant then thievery and human sacrifice should be made acceptable.

It's a problem when people think that the God of the Old Testament is a murderous monster and the God of the New Testament has changed His stand. Let me tell you this that the God of the Old Testament is the same God in the New Testament. The Father doesn't contradict the Son and the Son doesn't contradict the Spirit. Just the mere thought of people saying that God was a merciless monster in the Old Testament isn't justified. Let me ask those people do they even know why God called for the destruction of those civilizations? It's because those civilizations were wicked. If they don't believe in morals when they condemn God as unjust and immoral?

The Gospel presents both the good news and the bad news. The good news makes no sense until you first hear the bad news. The Gospel didn't come to say that God has relaxed His justice but affirms it. Jesus spoke more about Hell than He did about Heaven during His earthly ministry. I hate it whenever the Gospel is presented as something that waters down God's standard of morality. It wouldn't make sense if the Gospel ended up having God relaxing His justice or lowering His standard of holiness. If that were so then sending Jesus to die for our sins wouldn't make sense if God lowered His standards of justice and holiness. It's because God never lowered His standards of justice and holiness that Jesus had to die on the cross. If God lowered His standards for justice and holiness then Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is trivialized. It's because sin is so loathsome that God's justice must be done that Jesus drank the cup that the Father gave unto Him.

Another gospel that I truly hate is the idea that a person can get saved and never change. If any gospel that teaches works or salvation maintained by works is wrong then so is an Antinomian gospel. The Bible is clear that anybody who gets saved gets a new life. Ephesians 2:8-10 and Titus 2:11-14 say that God's grace teaches good works. Romans 3:31 says that the law is fulfilled by faith. I read my Bible and I don't find any teaching that says you're saved by your works, that your salvation is maintained by works or that you can have salvation but not necessarily result to sanctification. All three heresies are indeed deadly. Note that Matthew 7:21-23 doesn't only address people who think they're saved by their works but also people who are characterized by lawlessness as evidence of having never been saved to start with.

Did God promise to save people in their sins or from their sins? Matthew 1:21 says to save people from their sins. It's so stupid how Antinomians can say they can live all they want in sin because God saved them from their sin. That alone is a contradiction because if God saved you from sin then you can't live sinfully any longer. To be delivered from sin means to be delivered not only from its power but also a lifestyle that loves it. Though the Christian may not be perfect but such a person is continuously saved from sin at a daily basis. When God saves people He will not leave them as is but instead He chooses to change them. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 serves as this reminder. First, you were all unrighteous people not worthy of even entering God's Kingdom. The lifestyle of wickedness was a result of that unsaved life. Second, because you got saved so therefore such were some people. These people were saved and sanctified. Only fake converts would ever dare believe they have a license to sin. True converts will grow to hate sin and in good works as inevitable results of true conversion.
